Former Kruger Park ranger in court for poaching
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Former Kruger National Park (KNP) ranger Rodney Landela is expected to appear in the Skukuza Magistrate's Court today on charges relating to the poaching of a white rhino.

Landela, who was once considered a rising star in the conservation world, and his co-accused Kenneth Motshotsho are facing relating to the poaching of a rhino in 2016 in Kingfisherspruit.
The animal was found with both horns removed.
Since their arrest, the case has been marred by delays, including the death of presiding magistrate Dries Lamprecht, in 2018.
However, in June last year, the trial kicked off with the testimony of six state witnesses.
Landela had a distinguished career as a ranger, with many believing he would one day become chief ranger of the Kruger National Park.
He is currently out on a R20 000 bail.
The trial comes just days after SanParks says it has implemented Integrity Management Systems – that include polygraph tests of its personnel.
According to Sanparks, poachers have been infiltrating anti-poaching staff within the Kruger National Park.
