Four suspected robbers have been killed in a shootout with police in Randfontein, west of Johannesburg.

The police intercepted the suspects after receiving information from the Eastern Cape police's Crime Intelligence Unit that the suspects were planning to rob a businessman in Randfontein.
The businessman was apparently going to deposit a large sum of money at the bank.
The suspects were spotted by the police's tactical response team while travelling on the Ventersdorp road on Tuesday.
"The members attempted to stop the vehicle with four suspects. However, the suspects started shooting at the police," said Gauteng police deputy commissioner Fred Kekana.
"Our members retaliated, and four suspects were fatally wounded."
