Emergency services in Ekurhuleni have confirmed the death of a four-year-old boy in a house fire in Brakpan on Sunday morning.

EMS spokesperson William Tladi said the boy’s parents and his two-year-old sibling managed to escape the blaze with only minor injuries.
Tladi said that after the flames were extinguished, the body of the four-year-old boy was found in one of the two bedrooms in the house.
He was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.
“On arrival, the dwelling unit was well alight and flames threatened to spread to adjacent units,” said Tladi.
“One neighbour sustained a minor right-hand laceration. All injured were transported to the nearest medical facility for further treatment.
“It is alleged that the fire originated from the children's bedroom. However, the cause of the fire is undetermined.”
The scene was handed over to SAPS for further investigations and the removal of the body.
