The Department of Health in the Free State has announced the birth of 15 Easter babies.

The department says the first baby was delivered by a 41-year-old mother at around 1am in the Nala Hospital.
“Other joyful arrivals include Uzile Mashinini, 33, who delivered a baby girl weighing 2.505 kg at 02:35 am at Dihlabeng Regional Hospital, hailing from Reitz, and Patricia Nqola, 34, from Bloemfontein, who gave birth to her son weighing 3.100 kg at Pelonomi Tertiary Hospital at 02:42 am,” says the spokesperson for the department of health in the province, Mondli Mvambi.
Mvambi said that during this period, no teenage pregnancies were recorded.
She encouraged the new mothers to follow essential care protocols for their newborns, including delayed cord clamping, thorough drying, assessment of breathing, skin-to-skin contact, and early initiation of exclusive breastfeeding.
