Gauteng Education gives online system thumbs up as grade 7 applications top 13k

The Gauteng Department of Education Department says its happy with the new online application process for grade 7 pupils.

The system went live on Tuesday morning. By midday over 13 000 grade 7 applicants submitted applications for the 2022 academic year.
“We are looking at 183 000 candidates that are currently in grade seven in our public schools system,” says Head of Department Edward Mosuwe.
“That the system has opened up from 8am this morning. At this point in time we are quite happy that over 13 266 parents or applications have been successfully completed.

“The system as it opens today is only opened for grade sevens that are in public schools; it excludes the new grade ones that will be coming and excludes those that are outside the public school systems at the moment.”
Pupils who are outside the public schooling system and eligible for grade 8 will have to wait until next month to apply.
“For those that are outside the public schooling system that want to come to grade 8 in our public schooling system, the system will open on the 13 September, the same time it will be opening for grade one learners," Mosuwe.
