Gauteng education to probe Affies culture
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
The Gauteng Department of Education has sent several officials to the Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool in Pretoria to conduct an analysis on the school's culture.

The code of conduct of the prestigious school might change if a team of psychologists find that its rules perpetuate improper conduct.
The intervention comes after a 20-year-old woman filed a complaint against twenty-six boys who allegedly threatened her for wearing the Affies cap at a party.
The boys allegedly used a WhatsApp group to threaten the woman in 2015.
The cap cannot be worn by anyone else except an alumnus.
According to the department's spokesperson Steve Mabona the psychologists will inspect the school's code of conduct and educate the boys on gender issues.
"It is important for us to deal with the culture that is happening in some of our schools. Hence we are saying it is important for the SGB to look at their code of conduct, and review some of the things that are being practiced. We cannot promote an element of abusing anyone, more especially women."
In a statement on the school's Facebook page, it says a legal firm has been appointed to investigate the incident.
"AHS completely distances itself from the alleged actions of the boys and any form of violence, especially against women and children. This type of behaviour is strongly rejected. The school regards this matter in a very serious light and is handled by the governing body and management of AHS at the highest level, in consultation with a top law team appointed by the school."
