Gauteng government prays for peaceful election

Religious leaders came together at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Thursday to pray for a peaceful local government election.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura says those who want war during this year's upcoming Local Government Elections must not involve communities.
Makhura says the South African constitution guarantees that everybody can vote for a party of their choice.
The premier stressed that no one is forced to vote for a particular candidate, but says that everybody must make sure that they participate during the 3 August polls.
Makhura also says South Africa is a very peaceful country where violence during an election won't be tolerated.
"We humble ourselves before ordinary people like we humble ourselves before our creator. On 3 August the final word is with the people. On that day the people are the ones who have the final word," Makhura said.
