Gauteng govt ‘determined’ to win war against corruption, says Mamabolo

Acting Premier Jacob Mamabolo says the Gauteng government is more determined than ever win the war against corruption in the province.

Mamabolo tabled the premier’s budget vote on behalf of David Makhura on Wednesday.
Makhura was absent due to illness.
“The Gauteng provincial government and the civil society led Gauteng ethics advisory council will release a report that details the work of building integrity and fighting corruption,” Mamabolo told MPLs in the Gauteng legislature.

"We are determined to win the war against corruption and maladministration. We owe it to our people and our electoral mandate which is a pact to promote clean governance which delivers on socio economic needs.”
Gauteng was at the centre of a personal protection equipment scandal at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw the irregular awarding of more than R332 million in tenders by the provincial health department
The scandal led to the dismissal of then Health MEC Dr Bandile Masuku and a host of other officials.
