Gautrain expands bus services amid route suspension
Updated | By Lebohang Ndashe
Gautrain has expanded its bus services between Rosebank and Park Stations following the suspension of train operations on the popular route.

The disruption has been caused by illegal drilling on private property above the Gautrain tunnel, leading to water and soil seeping into the tunnel.
Gautrain confirmed that the drilling activity did not comply with the Gauteng Transport Infrastructure Act, which governs construction near transport infrastructure.
While some sections of the Gautrain network run underground, others operate above ground.
Despite the service disruption on this stretch, Gautrain Management Agency spokesperson Albi Modise reassured passengers that the rest of the train network remains operational.
To minimise inconvenience, additional buses have now been deployed.
"Buses will run every 15 minutes between the two stations from 05:30 in the morning to 20:30 at night as a contingency measure," said Modise.
On Sunday, Gauteng MEC for Transport and Logistics, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, visited the site to assess ongoing repairs.
“Ensuring the safety of passengers remains the primary focus while the repairs are taking place, a Gautrain bus replacement service has been set up between Rosebank and Park Stations,” the MEC said.
In a statement, Gautrain said it is working with all relevant stakeholders to resolve the issue and restore full service as soon as possible.
Gautrain is an 80-kilometre high-speed commuter rail system that connects Johannesburg, Pretoria, Kempton Park, and O.R. Tambo International Airport.
