GDE receives 170 000 online admission applications
The Gauteng Department of Education has received more than 170 000 online applications for placement in grade 1 and 8 next year.
The application process for the 2021 academic year opened on Thursday morning.

The system experienced a few glitches during the course of Thursday morning, but the department’s Steve Mabona says they have to date recorded 170 173 successful applications.
“This morning at 10:30 when we were analysing our data, we then confirmed that over 170 000 of the successful applications are currently in the system. This is an indication that most of our parents are successful in their applications process.
“It is also an indication that parents have embraced the system although we might have experienced the challenge in the first hour yesterday, but we can confirm that most of the parents now on the system are not experiencing any challenges.”
