Govt pleads with public to heed extreme weather warnings
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The government has again warned the public to be vigilant amid this week’s extreme weather conditions that wreaked havoc in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal

In the Eastern Cape alone, 57 people have already been confirmed dead.
The natural disaster left a trail of destruction, damaging schools, health care centres and roads.
Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni briefed the media in Cape Town on Thursday.
"Cabinet cautions everyone to be vigilant over the next few days due to the expected weather conditions in most parts of the country," she said.
"Before you travel, you must check the weather forecast and the snowfall.
"We don't want a repeat of what happened earlier in the year when people were trapped at the entry gate into KZN. Because the snowing or the climate change impact is so severe that it's not normal snow."
President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to visit the Mthatha area on Friday to assess the damage.
