Grade 7 pupil shot and killed at Riverlea home

The Gauteng Department of Education has confirmed the death of a Grade 7 pupil who was shot at his family’s house in Riverlea.

The pupil from Wilhelmina Hoskins Primary School was shot at by unknown suspects on Saturday.
The circumstances around the shooting are unclear.
In a separate incident, a Grade 4 boy pupil died on Monday after allegedly eating biscuits bought from a local spaza shop.
"Accordingly, emergency services were called to provide medical assistance to the Grade 4 learner. However, he was declared deceased while receiving medical treatment at home," said Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona.
"We have dispatched our Psycho-Social Support Unit to provide counselling to the school community on Tuesday.”
