A grade 8 boy from Oakdale Secondary School in Ennerdale was stabbed to death on Thursday morning.

According to the Gauteng Education Department spokesperson Steve Mabona, the incident occurred just outside the school before classes got underway,
Mabona said a grade 10 pupil, who was also involved in the incident, is currently receiving medical attention.
"There are allegations of the fight and stabbing incident being influenced by prevalent gangsterism among learners from different schools in the area. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.”
The Department dispatched its Psycho-Social Support Unit to provide counselling to those who witnessed the incident.
"The unit will visit the school again on Friday morning," said Mabona.
