High N3 traffic volumes expected ahead of festive long weekend

The N3 Toll Concession has urged motorists to prepare for high volumes and mixed traffic on the N3 Toll route ahead of the long weekend.

Thursday marks the start of the long weekend and the festive holiday for most South Africans.
Friday was declared a special public holiday by President Cyril Ramaphosa to celebrate the Springboks’ record 4th Rugby World Cup victory.
N3 Toll Concession Operations Manager, Thania Dhoogra, says traffic is expected to increase on Thursday afternoon, with many vehicles travelling in a south bound direction to KwaZulu Natal.
"Motorists should expect a mix of vehicle types on the route. With an increase in public transport vehicles, more trucks are likely to continue to follow typical weekday patterns.
"The N3 toll route is in excellent condition. All construction activity has been concluded and all lanes are open to traffic. Toll plazas will be operated at maximum capacity.
"Motorists are encouraged to use the tap and go payment option for increased mobility. Law enforcement will maintain a highly visible presence along the entirety of the N3 Toll route".
