Home of Durban businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize raided by SARS

The South Africa Revenue Service has confirmed that its officials carried out a raid on the Durban property of prominent socialite and businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize.

On Tuesday, some 15 police vehicles were seen parked outside the three entrances of Mkhize’s Durban North mansion.
The raid came after the Durban High Court granted the South African Revenue Service a preservation order and search-and-seizure warrant against Mkhize.
This move prevents asset dissipation and ensures compliance with tax laws.
Mkhize allegedly owes R37 million in unpaid taxes.
Mkhize previously faced a R204 million tax dispute in 2020, that resulted in asset seizures and liquidation of her company, Zikhuluse Cleaning, Maintenance and Transport.
"SARS will not waiver in executing its mandate without fear, favour, or prejudice, regardless of any person’s standing in society,” said national commissioner Edward Kieswetter.
“No one is above the law; it is therefore critically important that SARS acts emphatically to ensure that all meet their legal obligations. Today’s search-and-seizure operation must communicate an unambiguous message to all that law-enforcement agencies will act to stop lawlessness.”
