Hurry parents, online applications close soon
The Gauteng Education Department (GDE) has urged parents to use Sunday and Monday to apply for Grade 1 or Grade 8 learners, so they may be placed in their preferred schools for next year.
GDE spokesperson Steve Mabona says the department will close the system Monday.
"Failure to apply tomorrow means that parents will not have a choice over a school they really want, but we will be giving them what we have", said Mabona.

Mabona says the department is also happy over the 450 000 parents who have already applied online.
"The Department will start with the process of placement in July so we will be sending sms' to parents over the schools their children have been placed in," added Mabona.
