‘I fear nothing’ - Ramaphosa ahead of no-confidence vote

President Cyril Ramaphosa is confident that he will survive a motion of no confidence against him on Wednesday afternoon.

Ramaphosa will face his first motion of no confidence which will be voted on by open ballot.
The motion was tabled by African Transformation Movement (ATM) in February 2020, more than two years ago following allegations Ramaphosa misled Parliament about donations made to his ANC presidential campaign in 2017.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines at the 17th National Congress of NUM in Boksburg, Ramaphosa said he is not concerned.
“I am not a Member of Parliament, and in Parliament, they do all manner of things and I am an observer so no I am not worried.”
Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance (DA) held a protest outside Parliament on Wednesday morning.
The party has tabled a motion of no confidence against Ramaphosa and his entire cabinet.
DA leader John Steenhuisen said all the cabinet has done was bring poverty to the people.
“We call it the poverty cabinet because this cabinet has brought poverty into every home in South Africa. That’s the only thing they are good at delivering, it’s the only thing they can deliver.
“The reality is they don’t care and let me tell you why they don’t need to worry about crime because they have the VIP protection following them, they don’t care about petrol prices because you are paying for it as taxpayers,” says Steenhuisen.
