‘Illegally connected’ fence electrocutes three in NW
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
Police in North West are investigating the circumstances which led to the electrocution of three people in Lichtenburg on Sunday.

The police’s Amanda Funani says two women, as well as a man who attempted to assist them, all died on the scene.
“Two sisters were electrocuted to death when they tried to climb through a wire fence in Lichtenburg in the North West, which was presumably connected to an illegally connected power cable. The neighbour, who rushed to their aid, was also shocked to death.”
Funani says it was apparently not the first time the two sisters jumped the fence.
“I’m told that they use it normally but last week it was raining in Lichtenburg so I’m not sure whether they were not aware that the wires are dangerous, so they were trying to cross.
“Police in Lichtenburg have opened an inquest docket for a judicial investigation into the incident.”
