Indebted Tshwane residents urged to make payment arrangements

Tshwane Deputy Mayor Nasiphi Moya has again urged Tshwane residents to make payment arrangements with the municipality should their accounts be in arrears.

The warning comes as the city continues with its #TshwaneYaTima campaign, which aims to disconnect people with illegal connections.
Last week, the city opened criminal charges against a business complex in Centurion for illegally reconnecting electricity supply to its premises.

Moya said residents should make arrangements with the municipality if they cannot settle their debts.
"Clients have not paid their bills, but they have gone to greater lengths to connect themselves illegally.
"The message has been clear from day one: all customers must pay their bills. If they can’t, they must make arrangements with the municipality.
"However, when they start tampering with the infrastructure, with these illegal connections, then we'll come after them because that is totally unacceptable.”
