The 31-year-old mother is accused of killing her son in May this year.

According to police, the 11-year-old boy suffered blunt force injuries at his home in Fleurhof, west of Johannesburg, shortly after being dropped off from school.

Meek, who made her third appearance in court since her arrest, has denied killing her child and claims she is being framed.

The investigating officer from the Florida police station told the court how the missing case was opened and subsequently led to a search of the child.

"She told SAPS members that the child did not return back home from school. She further told police officers that her mother had communicated with the school transport driver and the driver said he dropped off the child at home."

The court heard that from the police station, the police and Jayden-Lee's family stopped at the driver's house, who is known as "Mr Khumalo".

"Khumalo was questioned by police as to what happened to the child, he said he indeed dropped off the child at home. Khumalo's place was searched by police, with a suspicion that he could have kept the child at his place. The child was not found."

The investigating officer told the court that the security guard on duty at the residential complex saw the child being dropped off from school and opened for him [Jayden-Lee] to go to his house.

Jayden-Lee was found unresponsive in the stairwell of the block of flats. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The state is opposing bail.

The bail hearing continues.
