Jiba: I never received any money from Bosasa

Deputy prosecutions boss Nomgcob Jiba has strongly denied receiving any money from controversial facilities management company Bosasa.

Former Bosasa executive Angelo Agrizzi previously told the commission of inquiry into state capture that Jiba was paid R100 000 a month as bribes.

"I have never been paid any sum of R100 000 by Mr. Agrizzi, by Mr. Mti, by Mr. Watson and all of those names mentioned there,” Jiba told the Mokgoro inquiry on Thursday.

The inquiry is investigating her and special director of public prosecutions Lawrence Mrwebi’s fitness to hold office.

Both prosecutors were suspended by President Cyril Ramaphosa last year pending the outcome of the inquiry.

"I have never received any money. Worse still, in 2009 I had nothing to do with Bosasa at all. In 2010, 2011, 2012, I also had nothing to do with Bosasa. I was deputy DPP at the time, and didn't have a personal assistant,” Jiba said.

Jibsa said her lawyer has already written to the state capture commission in relation to Agrizzi’s testimony.

She claimed that her involvement with Bosasa was limited to the briefings she received as acting director of public prosecutions.

The briefings involved various cases, and not just Bosasa.

"I've never met Agrizzi, I've never met Watson, I've never met Mti. Somebody, somewhere must have been receiving money, but that person was not me."
