Joburg EMS: caution amid heatwave warning
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services has called on residents to heed a heatwave warning from the South African Weather Service.

High temperatures are expected throughout the weekend.
"These temperatures are expected to last the whole weekend, which is why we have an alert for a heat wave" said Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi.
"We will remain on high alert throughout the weekend to make sure that we can effectively respond to all emergencies which might occur throughout the City of Johannesburg"
"This current heat wave means that most residents of the City of Johannesburg will be exposed to extremely hot temperatures,
"Exposure to this kind of heat can easily cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which might lead to heat stroke," Mulaudzi added.
Residents have been advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and protect vulnerable groups.
