Joburg mayor ’studying’ ruling on Brink appointment
Updated | By Bulletin / Jacaranda FM
Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero has noted the High Court ruling declaring the appointment of City Manager Floyd Brink unconstitutional and unlawful.

The court has ordered Brink to relinquish his permanent appointment within ten days or as soon as an acting manager is appointed.
The metro’s spokesperson, Nthatisi Modingoane, says the mayor will not make any pronouncements on the matter until he has thoroughly studied the judgment.
Modingoane says the mayor needs to understand the ruling’s implications fully.
“The citizens of Johannesburg must be assured that the city will act in their best interests and that it will ensure continuity in services and operations. The city is committed to ensuring that its administration acts in accordance with the law and the constitution of the republic.”
Brink was initially appointed as city manager in February 2023.
Before that, he served as the City of Joburg’s chief operating officer for four years and acted as city manager from February 2021.
The DA brought the case, citing concerns over Brink’s appointment.
