Joburg Water sets out locations for water tankers during shutdown

The planned 58-hour water shutdown is expected to start from Tuesday night to Friday morning. However, it will also take time for the system to recover subsequently.  

Rand Water will be installing isolation valves and conducting systems upgrades at the Eikenhof pump station. 

Joburg Water spokesperson, Nombuso Shabalala says there will also be roaming water tankers in the affected suburbs.

"The benefit of the shutdown includes to improve infrastructure reliability and availability, to reduce unplanned infrastructure breakdowns, to allow flexibility, in that during maintenance, water supply can be supplemented from another pump station system thereby reducing the impact of water supply interruptions and to upgrade old critical water supply infrastructure," says Shabalala.
