Joburg Metrobus services disrupted due to wage dispute
Updated | By Lebohang Ndashe
The Johannesburg Metrobus services have been suspended as workers affiliated with the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) strike over wage disputes.

Commuters were left stranded on Monday afternoon, scrambling for alternative transport options.
Metrobus management confirmed further discussions with several employees determined that services would be disrupted on Tuesday.
“Given the number of employees involved in the current unlawful action, it is expected that a limited number of routes will be affected,” said Metrobus spokesperson Tshepo Nathan.
The company is currently assessing which routes will be impacted.
Nathan noted that despite efforts from both Metrobus management and the City of Johannesburg to resolve the issue, no solution has been reached.
Negotiations are set to continue on Tuesday.
This protest follows a similar one last year over the same wage dispute issue.
