John Mpe to continue leading ANC’s Peter Mokaba region

Polokwane Mayor John Mpe has been re-elected for a third term as the chairperson of the ANC’s Peter Mokaba region in Limpopo.

The regional elective conference finally elected its top five leaders and 20 additional members at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Thursday night after being postponed twice.
Mpe’s deputy is Edward Paya.
Lesiba Matsemela was elected secretary of the region and will be deputised by Kholofelo Lehong.
Merriam Molala was elected treasurer.
"We really like to congratulate the officials and wish them all the best in their new responsibilities," said regional spokesperson Adolph Rapetsoa.
"We hope that the African National Congress will emerge united following this conference, and we condemn those attempts to disrupt the conference."
The Mpe slate was elected unopposed after some delegates boycotted the conference, citing concerns over intimidation and the conference's legitimacy.
Supporters of Mamedupi Teffo, the ANC Women's League provincial chairperson and Capricorn District Municipality Mayor, reportedly walked out of the conference ahead of the nominations.
Teffo complained about bogus delegates and branches that were disqualified.
"In relation to audited qualified branches, I'm saying seated here from RTT [Regional Task Team], I know it to be 105, and now the provincial deputy secretary [Basikopo Makamu] is saying it is 103,” she said.
