JRA: R150m needed to fix flood-damaged Joburg infrastructure
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) says it will need at least R150 million to fix all the city’s infrastructure which was damaged due to the recent floods.

The agency briefed the media on Thursday, where it gave an update on floods which ravaged Gauteng roads and bridges.
"A flood impact study indicated that the affected roads, sidewalks and stormwater drainage systems that need urgent repair will cost the JRA roughly about R150 million," said JRA Acting CEO Louis Nel.
The City of Joburg has named bridges in Region A as flooding hotspots.

Bridges in Ivory Park, Diepsloot, Vorna Valley, Kyalami and Glenferness have been drastically affected by the Joburg floods.
MMC for Transport Funzi Ngobeni said only 6% of the city’s bridges are safe to use.
"It's a scary percentage if you look at it because we only have 905 bridges in Johannesburg but it means close to 800 we drive over them at our own risk."
