Khusela Diko slapped with written warning, found guilty of failing to disclose financial interests
The Office of the Presidency says it has concluded a disciplinary process looking into former spokesperson Khusela Diko’s conduct.
She took leave of absence last year June amid allegations of tender irregularities at the Gauteng Department of Health.
Diko and her late husband, AmaBhaca King Madzikane II Thandisizwe Diko, were fingered in a report by the Sunday Independent.
The report also linked former Health MEC Bandile Masuku and his wife Loyiso Lugayeni-Masuku to a R125 million tender for protective gear.
Following internal processes, Diko was found guilty of failing to disclose her financial interests.
Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele says Diko was slapped with a written warning.
“The action taken by the Presidency management was in compliance with a recommendation by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) that Ms Diko be disciplined for her failure to disclose certain interests.
“This recommendation arose from an SIU investigation into government’s procurement of COVID-19 personal protective equipment.”
Diko, who is on maternity leave, will also be redeployed to a different position.
“Mr Tyrone Seale will continue as acting Spokesperson to the president,” says Gungubele.
