The Zulu king was set to marry his third wife, Queen Nomzamo Myeni, next weekend at the Kwakhangela royal household.

In a brief statement from the royal house, it was confirmed that the queen’s privileges, including security and allowances, have been revoked.

The cancellation of the wedding was attributed to reasons beyond the royal family’s control.

It follows a legal dispute with the king’s first wife, Queen Ntokozo KaMayisela, who has been contesting the marriage contract, insisting it be changed.

The dispute comes after the king filed for divorce in November, which Queen Mayisela confirmed in her court interdict.

She argued that if the wedding went ahead, it would constitute bigamy, as their civil marriage is still in effect.

The queen further stated that the matter remains pending in court and, under civil law, they remain married in community of property, preventing the king from entering another marriage while their union still exists.

Queen Mayisela has also requested a family meeting for mediation, but that has been postponed until February.
