Kunene maintains he was 'at wrong place, wrong time'

Johannesburg MMC for Transport Kenny Kunene has confirmed to have met murder-accused Katiso Molefe at a birthday party before the Patriotic Alliance deputy leader went into politics.

The businessman, Katiso Molefe, was arrested by police for the murder of musician DJ Sumbody in Sandton on Monday.
Kunene has been criticised after he was spotted at Molefe's residence at the time of his arrest.
However, he says he was there to help a young reporter with an exclusive interview with Molefe for his media publication.
Speaking to SABC News, Kunene said he believes he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"I arrived there at 12:15 after midday, driving in my personal car. It was going to be an issue if we were taking Uber there, like there's a clandestine meeting. No, it was about an interview."
"It was a question of perhaps being at the wrong place at the wrong time for the right reasons. Although I believe that I was not at the wrong place."
Kunene said he met Molefe at a birthday party some years back, before becoming a government official.
"I'm a socialite before I'm a politician. I've owned clubs and restaurants. But I have not had an encounter in that space, but I had an encounter at a birthday party, and Mr Molefe was also there, and it was a question of greetings, nothing much. I went to sit in my corner with my people."
