The family of award-winning Afrikaans singer Kurt Darren emerged unscathed from a car crash in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday afternoon.

“I'm just so thankful the Lord sent some angels to hold my family together,” says the 50-year-old.
Darren confirmed the news in an Instagram post published on Saturday.
He said the crash took place on a deserted stretch of a highway in KwaZulu-Natal.
Darren says the airbags of his wife’s car were damaged during the crash and apparently failed to deploy.

He also thanked commander of the police’ accident unit in Pietermaritzburg Dolf Otto for his speedy response.
“The fact that you called in help to bring my wife and children from a deserted stretch of a highway to a safe haven speaks volumes of your humanity.”
His wife, Dunay van Heerden also took to social media to express her gratitude, posting a picture with the text ‘Dear God, I just wanted to say thank you'.
