KZN mayor to remain behind bars for Magaqa murder
Updated | By Lindiwe Mpanza
Harry Gwala District Mayor Mluleki Ndobe and his co-accused briefly appeared in the Umzimkhulu Magistrates Court on Tuesday for the 2017 murder of former ANC Youth League secretary general Sindiso Magaqa.

Both were remanded in custody until their next court appearance.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority in KwaZulu-Natal, Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, says the accused are expected to formally apply for bail next week.
"The accused have been charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder."
Magaqa, who served as a councillor in Umzimkhulu at the time of his murder, died in a hail of bullets in what is believed to have been a politically-motivated murder.
Ramkisson-Kara says investigations are continuing.
