Police in the area have launched an investigation after the 26-year-old was found dead inside her bathroom with her throat slit at the weekend.

KZN police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says three suspects fought with the victim’s husband while she was taken into the bathroom.

"It is alleged that yesterday [Saturday] evening, three unknown suspects entered a house and held occupants Weenen.

"At knifepoint, they demanded cash. They fought with the victim, and the other suspect took the kids to the room and the wife was taken to the bathroom.

"She was certified dead at the scene and nothing was taken from the house," says Gwala.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance (DA) MP Dianne Kohler-Barnard says the situation in rural areas is beyond urgent.

She says the latest farm murder adds to the spike of 30 farm murders that were reported in June and July nationally.
