KZN NCOP to engage Mkhwanazi on crime & resources, not allegations
Updated | By Andile Tsotetsi
The KwaZulu-Natal delegation to the NCOP says Monday’s high-level talks with the provincial police commissioner aren't linked to the recent allegations he made against top officials.

“We are not going to discuss the allegations because there have been platforms which are legislated which we believe will be able to get to the bottom of the allegations,” said KZN NCOP delegation whip Mzamo Billy.
The delegation is due to meet with Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi on Monday morning.
Speaking to Newswatch, he said the discussions will focus strictly on crime trends, legislative support, and strengthening police-community ties.
"Ours is strictly to deal with issues that have got to do with the capacity and the work of the police in the province with the sole aim of assisting in bringing those matters to the national Parliament."
He said the meeting's part of Parliament's efforts to ensure national laws address urgent safety challenges in KZN.
"We know that there are a lot of issues in the police. We know that there are issues with resources.
“We know that there are not enough policemen and women. We know that there are political killings. We know that suspects and police are being killed. And all of those things require a collaborative effort to address it."
