A grade three pupil in Limpopo has died after she was allegedly hit by a speeding minibus taxi just after leaving the school premises.

The nine-year-old pupil was knocked down 100m from the Pfuxetani Primary School in the Mopani District on Wednesday.
According to the Limpopo Department of Education, the pupil was rushed to Khensani Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The Limpopo Member the Executive Committee (MEC) for Education, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, has sent a message of condolences to the bereaved family and the entire school community.
“The MEC is pleading with taxi operators to be cognisant of young learners who are using public roads, crossing to and from school on a daily basis,” says department spokesperson Mike Maringa.
“The MEC will send a team of senior managers, social workers and psychologists to start with the debriefing at the school and the family.”
