Leaving Meyiwa crime scene unattended 'reckless, ignorant', Mshololo tells witness

Advocate Zandile Mshololo has accused Sergeant Patrick Mthethwa of being reckless and ignorant when he attended to the Senzo Meyiwa crime scene in 2014.

Mshololo reprensents one of the five accused in the Meyiwa murder trial.
“Mr Mthethwa, I put it to you that you were ignorant and reckless in not safeguarding the crime after you had received the report that there had been a shooting incident," she said.
Mthethwa took to the stand on Tuesday as a state witness in the High Court in Pretoria.
He was one of the first respondents at the murder scene in Vosloorus when Meyiwa was shot.
During his testimony, Mthethwa told court that he and his partner, a Sergeant Mathebula, rushed to Botshelong Hospital, in an attempt to find out what happened.
He told court that at the time he did not know where Meyiwa was killed.
"What we did was to first get hold of the person with the information to let us know what happened," said Mthethwa.
"So it was not necessary at that stage to cordon off or secure that scene," questioned Advocate Sipho Ramosepele, who represents accused number one and two.
"Because we didn't know already which was the scene, was it outside the house or inside the yard or inside the house," said Mthethwa.
Mthethwa further conceded to Mshololo that there was no one left at the crime scene when they went to the hospital.
Mshololo argued that Mthethwa's actions could have led to someone tampering with the crime scene.
Mthethwa is set to conclude his cross-examination on Wednesday.
