Legal expert says postponement necessary in AKA eSwatini case
A legal expert says the postponement in the case against two brothers implicated in AKA's murder will give both sides ample time to process evidence.
The case against Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande in eSwatini has been postponed to 9 April.
They are facing charges of murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the deaths of rapper Kiernan Forbes and his friend Tebello Motsoane in Durban.
The Manzini Magistrate's Court yesterday confirmed that it received South Africa's request for their extradition.
The brothers' defence attorney requested more time to examine the 250-page document.
Legal expert Sunil Singh says the postponement was reasonable.
"The two weeks they requested is not unreasonable. Obviously, considering the fact that they are facing very serious allegations, and if convicted, would spend a lengthy time in jail. The court granted them the period accordingly for them to present their case before the extradition gets underway."
Meanwhile the bail application of five others in Durban will continue next Wednesday.
