Lesedi Secondary School pupil stabbed to death
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane has condemned the fatal stabbing of a Grade 11 pupil from Lesedi Secondary School in Lethabong.

The school is located in an informal settlement in Donkerhoek, east of Pretoria.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon as pupils were boarding their scholar transport after school.
According to preliminary reports, a Grade 12 pupil, who had not attended school on Tuesday, allegedly returned in the afternoon and attacked the younger pupil outside the school premises.
The victim was rushed to Lethabong Healthcare Clinic but was declared dead on arrival.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
In response to the tragedy, the Gauteng Department of Education has sent psychologists and members of its School Safety Unit to the school to offer trauma support and enhance safety measures.
MEC Chiloane expressed outrage at the incident.
"We are heartbroken by this senseless act of violence. No child should ever lose their life in the pursuit of education. Our schools must remain spaces of learning, safety, and hope—not breeding grounds for brutality and violence."
He added that the department strongly condemns all forms of violence in and around schools and urged learners to understand the consequences of such actions.
"Violence has life-altering consequences. Such actions will not only remove you from the classroom but may ultimately place you behind bars."
