Limpopo cop accused of sexually assaulting son to remain behind bars

The Vaalbank Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga has denied bail to a Limpopo police officer accused of sexually assaulting and grooming her son.

The court handed down judgment on Tuesday.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate’s spokesperson Lizzy Suping says the accused was denied bail due to the lack of a fixed address.
She has also interfered with witnesses.
The 40-year-old constable was arrested a month ago after she was seen in a video engaging in a sexual act with her son.
She faces several charges, including creating and distributing child pornographic material and the sexual grooming of a child.
The incident is believed to have happened in 2020.
The officer's son is being kept in a place of safety after the Groblersdal Children’s Court granted the watchdog permission to remove him from his family home.
She is expected back in court in May.
