Limpopo govt urges motorists to drive safely this Easter

The Limpopo government has called on all road users to work together to priotise safety during the Easter Holiday.

The province expects peak travel from Thursday up until Monday as holidaymakers make their way into the province.
"Our law enforcement agencies are gearing up for intensive operations from the 16 to 22 April 2025," said Premier Phophi Ramathuba’s spokesperson Thilivhali Muavha.
"Remember, fatigue is a silent killer. Our road users are advised to take regular breaks every two hours or 200km to rest and recharge. To our pedestrians, cross the road when it is safe to do so, wear bright coloured clothes and don't drink and cross the road."
Meanwhile, Putco confirmed that it would be operating close to 500 buses for the Zion Christian Church's Easter pilgrimage to Moria outside Polokwane.
This marks the first ZCC pilgrimage since the church closed its headquarters following the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020.
"In previous years, Putco typically dispatched close to 800 buses for the pilgrimage," said Putco spokesperson Lindokuhle Xulu.
"However, this year’s event will follow a phased approach, with around 50% of the usual operations in place."
The ZCC church, together with the St. Engenas ZCC which opened its headquarters early last year, used to attract millions of followers before the pandemic hit South Africa.
The St. Engenas pilgrimage last year was marred by tragedy after 45 people were killed in a bus crash on the Mamatlaka bridge in Mokopane.
