A 51-year-old school principal has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old pupil in Limpopo on Wednesday.

The principal allegedly committed the crime in his office at a local school in Lebowakgomo, in the Capricorn District, on Saturday.
According to provincial police, the young girl was accompanied by her friends to school to retrieve her cell phone, which had been confiscated by a teacher during class time during the previous week.
Police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba says the principal instructed her to come to his office alone, where he allegedly inappropriately touched and sexually assaulted her.
“The victim reported the incident to her family, and the matter was subsequently reported to Lebowakgomo police station on Wednesday, 20 August,” says Mashaba.
“The case was referred to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
“The suspect was immediately arrested and charged with sexual assault.”
The accused is expected to appear before the Thabamoopo Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
