Limpopo police have warned the public against taking the law into their own hands after members of the community attacked three suspected robbers in Ga-Selepe outside Atok.

Angry residents set the suspects’ car alight, killing one and leaving the other two with serious injuries.
The trio were accused of robbing a local spaza shop owner of an undisclosed amount of cash at gunpoint.
Police said residents then cornered the suspects as they were trying to flee.
"Police found three suspects inside the burning vehicle. Two suspects managed to come out of the vehicle with severe burn injuries,” said police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba.
"Paramedics declared one suspect dead, and the other two were taken to hospital. Police are investigating a case of murder, attempted murder and malicious damage to property.
"Members of the community are warned against taking the law into their own hands by attacking people suspected of being involved in criminal activities as that cannot be tolerated.”
Police in Limpopo recorded 16 murder cases emanating from incidents of mob justice during the second and third quarters of the 2024/2025 financial year.
