A 34-year-old suspected serial killer is set to appear in court on Monday in connection with the murder of seven women in Polokwane earlier this year.
The women were lured by the suspect promising them employment.
He was initially arrested for possession of a stolen cell phone which was later confirmed to be that of a woman who was kidnapped in Lebowakgomo.
The seven women, whose bodies were discovered in Seshego, Mankweng, and Polokwane, have been positively identified by their next of kin.
“The work of the investigating team is highly commendable and will send a clear message to criminals that the police are more than determined to hunt down all perpetrators of gender-based violence and femicide,” said Limpopo police commissioner Thembi Hadebe.
The suspect is expected to appear in Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of kidnapping, murder, rape, defeating the ends of justice, and robbery.
