Limpopo students left begging for money
Updated | By Silindelo Masikane
Students from the University of Limpopo are trying to raise funds for some of their counterparts who can't afford to go home.

This comes after the university suspended academic activity and closed its residences following a week of violent protests for free education.
Some students say they simply don't have the money to travel home. They say they've now been left on the street.
Chaos erupted at the Turfloop campus earlier this week when protests turned violent and a residence was set alight.
Academic activities have now been suspended.

Third year student, Evidence Makotayetso told Jacaranda FM News that they can't go home while their fellow students are not being looked after.
"We tried fundraising but we have been unable to assist anyone to get home. Some people have offered the students food and shelter, but we need to get them going," she said.
Meanwhile students have lashed out at the university saying the institution is doing nothing to help those left destitute.
"The university said that they will assist students but to our dismay they have done nothing." one said. "We have taken it upon ourselves to help these students," said another.
Students have been going from business to business asking for donations to assist some in getting home.
"Hopefully today we will be able to send some students home" a student said.
