Limpopo’s R521 Dendron Road reopened after tanker spill
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has reopened the R521 Dendron Road following a chemical spill during a tanker crash earlier this week.

The road, which connects Polokwane and Dendron, had been closed since Monday after the tanker carrying flammable liquid collided with a light delivery vehicle approximately 10 kilometres outside Polokwane.
The impact led to concerns about a possible explosion, prompting an emergency shutdown and rerouting of traffic.
Authorities confirmed on Wednesday that the road is safe for public use.
"We thank all the stakeholders who worked around the clock on this incident — including the cleaning company, Municipal Environmental Health, SAPS, traffic officials, and EMS — for their tireless efforts to ensure public safety and resolve the situation," said departmental spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene.
Chuene also extended gratitude to road users for their cooperation during the closure.
"We appreciate the patience of motorists and urge everyone to continue driving safely and cautiously on the reopened R521."
No fatalities were reported in the incident, but authorities said investigations into the cause of the collision are ongoing.
