LISTEN: Cele applauds police for cash-in-transit arrests

Police Minister Bheki Cele
announced the latest statistics on the wave of cash-in-transit heist in Durban
on Friday.

Cele briefed the media alongside the new head of the Hawks, Lieutenant-General Godfrey Lebeya.
Cele said the police are making progress in their investigations in the the spate of in cash-in-transit heists.
"The arrest and appearance in court of suspects linked to heists in Boksburg and Limpopo are the recent examples of swift action by police in responding to cash-in-transit heists.”
Cele said 295 heists were reported between August 2017 and May 2018.
Around 130 arrests were made resulting in 44 convictions.
