[LISTEN] Remembering Peter Matlare, in the words of those close to him

Matlare passed away at the age of 61 after a battle against Covid-19.

The late ABSA Deputy CEO, Peter Matlare has been described as a man with a zest for life and a palette for not only talks about finances but also the finer things in life.
"I last saw Peter at home about a week before he fell ill," said ABSA CEO, Daniel Mminele when he addressed mourners at Matlare 's funeral on Wednesday.
"He insisted on giving me a bottle of wine to take home - a very expensive bottle of red wine - and said jokingly, Dan, we might as well enjoy this before Covid gets the better of us. Little did we know,."
Mminele also told mourners of how Matlare happily gave up a portion of his income for three months and assisted in the setting up of the special Covid-19 Solidarity Fund.

Matlare passed away at the age of 61 after a battle against Covid-19.
He served in many senior positions over the years, including as CEO of the SABC, Vodacom, and Tiger Brands.
