Police officers, members of the South African National Defence Force as well as officials from the Department of Home Affairs combed through the area on Monday.
The operations come after the army was deployed to quell xenophobic attacks in Alexandra and other parts of the country
Gauteng police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says the 50 foreigners are now being processed by Home Affairs officials.
“Those who are in the country illegally will be taken to the Lindela Repatriation Centre.”
No unlicensed firearms were recovered during the operation, which is set to continue in other hotspot areas.
In other police operations, 11 men were arrested for being in possession of drugs and stolen property at the Jeppestown men’s hostel.
Two men were arrested at a hostel in Alexandra - one for being in possession of an SANDF uniform and another for selling liquor without a licence.
