LLSA: Matsaung's behaviour was unacceptable

The Law Society of South Africa (LLSA) says the behaviour of former Eskom evidence leader Sebetja Matsaung towards a journalist was unacceptable.

Pretoria attorney, Sebetja Matsaung, who was the case presenter in the disciplinary hearing of suspended Eskom executive, engaged in a heated altercation with a journalist.
LSSA's chairperson Walid Brown has condemned the reported behaviour by Matsaung.
"It is unacceptable for an attorney to treat a member of the media and indeed anyone in the manner alleged in this incident."
"An attorney is an officer of the court and a member of the attorney's profession. He must maintain the highest standards of integrity, and refrain from doing anything which could or might bring the attorneys' profession into disrepute."
Matsaung has since been fired by the power utility following the altercation.
Brown says it's up to the journalist now to take the matter forward.
"[The journalist] can lodge a complaint with the Law Society of the Northern Provinces, the statutory regulatory body for Gauteng attorneys," says Brown.
