Load shedding crisis: Speaker wants Mabuza to keep Parliament informed

National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has asked Deputy President David Mabuza to keep Parliament in the loop amid the ongoing load shedding crisis.

This as the power cuts shows no signs of ending anytime soon.
Eskom is implementing stage 3 power cuts from 7am on Sunday. It then goes up to stage 4 at 4pm.
Parliamentary spokesperson Moloto Mothapo says Mapisa-Nqakula received letters from DA, EFF and UDM asking for a debate on the series of fuel price hikes and the prolonged power cuts.
“Speaker Mapisa-Nqakula received letters from the Democratic Alliance, Economic Freedom Fighters, and the United Democratic Movement leaders requesting that she call back the House from the constituency period to debate and find solutions to the energy crisis - increasing petrol prices and continuous power cuts.
“The Speaker has requested that the National Assembly be kept abreast of any programmes or interventions the Executive puts in place to deal with the energy crisis.
“The Speaker raised concern that these power outages imposed untold hardships on the citizens of our country and hamstrung businesses and production.”
